Dead Rising follows the harrowing tale of Frank West, a freelance photojournalist after the scoop of a lifetime. In a small suburban town that's overrun by zombies, he escapes to the local shopping mall, thinking it will be safe. Now it's a standoff, with zombies unable to get Frank, but him unable to get out & escape. Fortunately, he's got an entire mall at his disposal. Utilize everything you can find to fight off the flesh-hungry mob and search for the truth behind the horrendous epidemic.

  • Real-time gameplay - Time marches on whether Frank is actively engaged or simply stationary
  • Dynamic enemies - Record numbers of zombies will come at you & react to their environment -- each has unique behaviors and appearances
  • The variety of stores will give you weapons aplenty - an endless supply of vehicles, makeshift weapons, and food are waiting for you
  • Encounter other survivors along the way -- helping them will give you more clues as to what has happened and what you need to do to stop it
  • Visual clarity - Playing in native 720p resolution allows for unprecedented detail and clarity in gameplay

3.0 out of 5 stars An exciting new genre for the 360, but plagued with old problems, August 24, 2006

Although I prefer FPS (first person shooters) to the 3rd person adventure games, I loved the latest installments of the Lara Croft and the Hitman series games. As of this writing, I have completed Dead Rising in the 72 hour mode and am now replaying the game to try to earn all of the achievements.

Dead Rising is a brand-new genre for the Xbox 360. It's closest cousin is Condemned, a first person horror adventure game but Dead Rising has a number of unique features that set it apart. First off, you can pick up just about anything in the area and use it as a weapon. Potted plants, lawnmowers and even an electric guitar are all at your disposal. There are easily hundreds of potential weapons in this game and part of the fun is discovering new ways to fight off zombies with what you have available at hand.

Adding to the distinct style of Dead Rising is the ability to customize your character. As you make your way through the mall, you can try on new clothing... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Expectations... Be aware of what to expect in Dead Rising, August 11, 2006
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dead Rising (Video Game)
Expectations can basically make or break this game. The problem I had w/ it and I think most others do is the fact we wanted to freely roam the mall while killing off as many zombies as we wanted with all the cool weapons avaliable. There would be a story to follow, but not in the annoying way it was implemented.

What CAPCOM delivered is slighly different from what most expected. The game takes place over 3 days, and within those 3 days you have to follow the game's main storyline within set time limits. Let clarify on that... you MUST get to certain story events within a certain time or you will loose out on the main story of the game. Side quests are avaliable, but you must pick and choose a few to do here and there because if you spend too much time on them, you will end up missing the main story. The game is made in such a way to MAKE you replay it two or three times atleast if you want to explore all the side quests and try to find all the cool weapons and things... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game, even with a few bumps..., August 15, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Dead Rising (Video Game)
Well, I have been enjoying Dead Rising for a week now and I can't honestly think of a game out there that is more fun than this one. While I do agree with everone else that the small font puts a damper on the mood, I have just learned to move on with it. I can read it but it is tough on the old eyes. I have a standard def 36" WEGA and while it is small, it is legible. I will try it on my parents 61" Hidef this weekend to see any difference. I can only imagine what the graphics look like if they look this great on my standard def TV.

This game is very deep. The save feature is disappointing and you will find that you will learn to constantly bring up the map to check for save points. After you play for a hour or more and die and have to replay through it, you quickly learn. Another thing I don't care for is having to restart the game if you miss a "scoop" and it throws the rest of the game out. You can still play and do the missions, atleast for a while but you can no longer... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Knockoff item, barely works. Don't buy!, August 19, 2011
By
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: XBOX 360 Universal Media Remote Control (Video Game)
This remote is not made by Microsoft and doesn't have any XBox logos on it.

The remote must be held within 4' of the XBox 360 in order to work, and always directly in front.

I wish I knew this before purchasing because this item is basically useless. Stick with your game controller instead of buying this.

I was optimistic after reading reviews of this and I should have listened.

It is not of "Microsoft" quality at all whatsoever. I am sending it back and disappointed that I had to pay shipping twice on this.

Put batteries in it, turned on my 360 and it didn't work in the dashboard or media center. To fix it I had to go to My Xbox -> System Settings -> Console Settings -> Remote Control. I had to change it from "Both Remotes" to "Xbox 360 Media Remote." It's on "Both Remotes" by default and doesn't work with this remote at all. I'm giving it 3 Stars because while I was able to eventually make it work, there were no instructions given and even searching online it was difficult to find the answer. After I solved the issue I watched a movie in media center and it performs fine, I have no issues with the five or six feet distance from my couch like others have reported (I've read aftermarket faceplates may pose problems so it's something to keep in mind.) It does not come as pictured in a pre-formed plastic retail package, it simply came in a green bag with batteries with no written material. Amazon customer service (chat option) was excellent. I had requested a refund for the product before... Read more

I'm trying to be careful because my original Xbox 360 has already broken once and a used Kinect I bought also was broken. Therefore, I want a power supply which is made by Microsoft. This page says that the product is made by Microsoft, but the product I received was not. It was made by gaminghost and it is made for the "X-360 Ki-Nect." I have submitted this info to Amazon and am returning the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better price than elsewhere., March 11, 2011

If you didn't buy the stand-alone Kinect Sensor system, this is the adapter you'll need to connect the Kinect camera with older XBOX 360 consoles (Xenon, Zephyr, Falcon, Opus, Jasper motherboards). One end of the cable will plug into the Kinect. This Y-shaped cable splits the connection: one USB to communicate with your XBOX 360 and another to plug into your A/C outlet for power.

Ever since I bought the XBOX 360/Kinect bundle, I've been waiting for this adapter cable to connect the Kinect with my old XBOX 360 (my old system is in the bedroom, and the slim one is in the living room).

This adapter is sold by Microsoft at full retail price. You're also going to be paying the full shipping price unless there's a shipping promotion. I may have chosen this path but it's also constantly out-of-stock, so I decided to wait.

I'm glad I waited for Amazon (and its merchants). The price is roughly 15% off the retail - 20% if you get free super saver shipping. Mine... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars It does what it says., January 20, 2011
Let's just say this.
When you buy a kinect BY ITSELF, it should come with the adapter.
If you bought a bundle, as I did, it doesn't.

It is available right now from the Microsoft store, it's not bad price-wise.
But if you want to use your kinect on an older model XBOX, you need it. Plain and simple.
Microsoft's shipping was quick. Don't stress over the adapter.
Just order it and move on with your life.
